Legal · Accessibility

Accessibility statement.

Last tested 27 April 2026 Standard WCAG 2.1 AA

Music Intel is committed to making this site usable to as wide an audience as possible. We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. This statement describes where we are, where we are not, and how to flag issues.

01

Scope.

This statement applies to https://musicintel.co.uk and the associated marketing surfaces (/industry/*, /musician, and the legal pages). It does not cover the customer dashboard at app.musicata.io, which has its own accessibility scope and conformance status.

02

Conformance.

The site is intended to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. The current build was audited on 27 April 2026 against the AA criteria. The audit identified 11 issues; all 11 have been resolved.

Specifically, the audited build clears (non-exhaustive):

  • 1.1.1 Non-text content - all images have descriptive alt text
  • 1.3.1 Info and relationships - semantic landmarks (header, nav, main, footer), heading hierarchy, single H1 per page
  • 1.4.3 Contrast - body text measures 15:1, kicker / soft text measures 5.94:1
  • 2.4.1 Bypass blocks - skip-to-main-content link present
  • 2.4.7 Focus visible - explicit focus-visible ring (coral, 2px)
  • 3.1.1 Language of page - lang="en" on all pages
  • 4.1.2 Name, role, value - ARIA labels on icon-only controls; mega-menu aria-expanded toggles correctly
  • 4.1.3 Status messages - contact-form result is announced via aria-live
03

Beyond AA.

The site honours prefers-reduced-motion for users with vestibular sensitivity (animations and the auto-scrolling editorial ticker pause). This is a WCAG 2.1 AAA criterion (2.3.3) we treat as standard hygiene rather than aspirational.

The cookie consent banner (PECR / UK GDPR compliant) supports keyboard focus trap, Escape-to-dismiss, and granular per-category consent with no pre-ticked non-essential boxes.

04

Known limitations.

We track open issues honestly:

  • One heading-tree skip remains on /industry where the Today's Edition tile uses an h3 inside an h1 hero region. Cosmetic, not AA-blocking.
  • Cookie banner toggle controls are 38 x 22 pixels; the WCAG 2.2 AA target-size minimum is 24 x 24 (criterion 2.5.8). We are tracking 2.2 conformance separately.
  • Print stylesheet is not yet provided; printed pages render with full screen styling.
05

Testing approach.

The 2026-04-27 audit combined manual review (semantic HTML, heading order, ARIA, focus order, keyboard navigation, colour contrast measurement) and rendered-HTML inspection across 11 representative pages.

We do not yet run automated accessibility checks in CI. Lighthouse + axe-core integration is on the 2026 roadmap.

Reviews are scheduled every six months, and on every material design change.

06

Reporting an issue.

If you cannot use part of this site because of an accessibility barrier, write to legal@musicintel.co.uk with the URL, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology in use (if any). We aim to acknowledge within two business days and triage within ten.

If we cannot fix the issue, we will explain why and offer an alternative way to access the information or service in question.

07

Enforcement.

If you are dissatisfied with our response, you can escalate to the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) (equalityadvisoryservice.com), which advises on the Equality Act 2010.

Statement prepared 27 April 2026. Next review: every six months, and on every material design change. Contact: legal@musicintel.co.uk
