We are a small team.
Music Intel is currently a four-person founding team applying forensic-software discipline to a music industry that has never had it at infrastructure level. We are not actively hiring. We read every speculative application.
What it is
Who already works here.
Four people, with combined experience across enterprise data infrastructure, eDiscovery and cyber forensics, music marketing and artist development, and operational leadership. Bios on /industry/company.
The work crosses categories the music industry usually keeps separate: rigorous data engineering, editorial research, commercial work with labels and publishers, technical work on the catalogue substrate. People here switch between those modes daily.
How we work.
- Remote-first, UK-based. Folkestone is the registered office. Most work happens distributed.
- Small. Quiet. Forensic. We ship work that survives scrutiny, in environments where context, accuracy and timing are not features.
- Unacquired and intend to stay so. Every major independent music data platform built in the last decade has been acquired or shut down. We are not interested in either outcome.
- Music people. Both founders write, record, and release their own music. The product exists because the team has lived inside the problem.
Roles we will hire for first.
When we do hire (target: late 2026), the first roles are likely to be:
- Data engineering with PostgreSQL and TimescaleDB experience
- Music industry research and editorial (Field Notes pipeline)
- Forensic accounting / royalty audit (Black Box)
- Technical writing and product enablement
If your background fits any of those, write now. We will keep the conversation open.
What we look for.
People who treat data like evidence. People who can hold an opinion under cross-examination. People who can write clearly enough that an auditor, a label MD, and a PRS director would each understand the same paragraph.
If you have done time in legal data, financial services, intelligence, or another high-context domain and want to apply that to music, you are exactly the right shape.
Tell us why you should be at Music Intel.
One paragraph on what you have built or investigated, and what you would want to do here. CV optional. Skip the cover letter.
