Investigate the catalogue before capital is committed.
A valuation model can only be as dependable as the rights and royalty records beneath it.
BlackBox Royalty Investigator gives diligence teams a separate forensic workstream: a defined
question, source-bound evidence, human review and a full chain of custody. It informs the deal.
It does not make the valuation or promise an outcome.

- The four uses
Ask. Investigate. Examine. Decide.
Before acquisition and after it
01
Frame the investigation before the deal
Define the catalogue, the rights or royalty question and the official source records available before capital is committed. BlackBox Royalty Investigator gives the diligence team a forensic workstream with clear boundaries and documented provenance.
- Catalogue scope · investigation question · official source records
02
Make conflicts inspectable
Bring relevant records, conflicts and documented gaps into one source-bound investigation record. Every material hand-off is preserved so advisers and decision-makers can examine how a finding was reached.
- Full chain of custody · source-bound findings · human review
03
Give the committee defensible evidence
Present supported findings with their provenance, review history and limitations. The output can inform an investment committee or appointed adviser without claiming to provide the valuation, legal opinion or investment decision.
- Documented evidence · stated limitations · no valuation guarantee
04
Investigate after acquisition too
A completed acquisition does not remove unanswered rights or royalty questions. Existing portfolio assets can be scoped into a separate investigation using the same custody standard and human review discipline.
- Pre-acquisition or post-acquisition · separately scoped
- Engagement model
Deal-level or portfolio-level questions.
Scope can begin with one target catalogue or a defined question across existing portfolio
assets. Each investigation is bounded by the records available and the issue the diligence
team needs examined.
BlackBox Royalty Investigator is designed to sit beside valuation, audit and legal work.
It creates the forensic record. Those advisers retain their own professional responsibilities.
- Pricing
Enterprise only. Contact us.
There is no public numeric price card. Pricing reflects catalogue scope, processing
requirements, secure evidence workspace and hosting, and investigator access.
We do not take a percentage of recovery and we do not guarantee valuation, acceptance,
recovery or legal outcome. Confidential scoping and an NDA are available.
How is this different from a standard music-catalogue appraisal?+
An appraisal estimates value. BlackBox Royalty Investigator investigates a defined rights or royalty question and preserves the supporting record in a full chain of custody. It can inform diligence, but it does not issue the valuation, investment recommendation or legal opinion.
Will you sign institutional NDAs?+
Confidential scoping and NDA arrangements are available. Certain technical and operating materials are confidential and disclosed only under NDA, as are protected details of the evidence architecture and methodology.
What makes the investigation record defensible?+
The source, processing history, review activity and material hand-offs are preserved in a complete chain of custody. Where the source is an official CWR record supplied to Music Intel by a PRO or CMO, the resulting investigation record can be tribunal-grade. The correctness of source data may still be challenged.
What about portfolios already acquired?+
Existing portfolio assets can be investigated even if Music Intel was not involved before acquisition. Each engagement is scoped to the catalogue, question and source records available at the time.
How is this priced?+
There is no public numeric price card. The proposal is catalogue-scoped and reflects processing requirements, secure evidence workspace and hosting, and investigator access. BlackBox Royalty Investigator is not priced as a percentage of recovery.
Interrogate the evidence. Then make the decision.
Tell us the catalogue scope, the investigation question and which official source records
are available. We will define a forensic workstream your advisers can examine.
